meez ("we", "our", or "us") is a social recipe app that helps friends and family import, organize, and cook recipes together. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive an account identifier and the email address and name made available by that provider. Google may also provide a profile photo. If you choose Apple's Hide My Email option, we receive an Apple relay address. We use this information to create and identify your account. For new accounts, we record when you accept our Terms of Service and acknowledge this Privacy Policy during account setup.
Recipe and import data: Recipes you create or import, including titles, ingredients, steps, photos, tags, source URLs, and any photos you choose to upload. To process an import, we also receive the link or file you submit and may store the extracted recipe, import status, and processing records. Source pages and videos can contain names, voices, or other information supplied by their creators.
Activity you save: Team memberships and follows, cookbook and wishlist placements, ratings and rankings, cooking notes, grocery items, and your choices to hide recipes or block contributors. For inappropriate-content reports, we receive the reason and details you provide. For recipe correction reports, we receive the issue categories, your description of what is wrong, and the correction you expect.
Service logs: Our server records your IP address, requested API path, response status, and request timing; signed-in requests can also be associated with your account. We use these logs to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. We do not collect crash reports directly from the app.
Recipes you place in a team and related activity can be visible to its members and to people with access to a team that follows it. We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their marketing. The service providers below process information as needed to run the app.
We use the following third-party services to operate meez:
We retain account data while your account is active. You can delete your account from Profile in the app. This deletes your account and profile, including your saved avatar, and removes team memberships, ratings, grocery items, hide and block choices, and inappropriate-content reports you submitted. If you used Sign in with Apple, we revoke its authorization before completing deletion.
Saved recipes and their images stay after account deletion. Recipes placed in teams can remain available to other people with access to those teams; their creator, sharer, and correction-author references to your deleted account are cleared. Teams with other members stay and receive a new owner; teams with no other members are removed. Pending imports, account-linked import jobs and decision records, uploaded processing files, source snapshots, extraction captures, and recipe correction reports are removed. Images needed by saved recipes are preserved separately from import jobs before those jobs are removed.
Cleanup must finish before the app reports successful deletion. If processing is still active or a service is unavailable, deletion returns an error and can be retried. We retain a one-way hash of the internal account identifier and identifiers of removed correction requests solely to prevent delayed processing from recreating deleted records. These suppression records contain no profile, submitted URLs, or recipe content.
Raw processing files may be removed by separate cleanup routines. Service and operational logs are retained separately for security and troubleshooting. Contact support@meez.food if you have questions or requests about data that remains after account deletion.
We use encrypted connections (TLS), authentication tokens, and access controls to protect your data.
meez is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app or on this page with a new effective date.
